The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a
Full Professorship (W3)
for Molecular Medicine
(Succession of Prof. Dr. Christoph Peters)
at the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Cell research to be filled by 1st October 2024.
The future holder of this position will represent the field of Molecular Medicine in research and
teaching. She/he will be the director of the Institute.
Candidates should have an excellent track record, including internationally recognized research
achievements with publications in leading journals, acquisition of peer-reviewed external funding,
experience in heading a scientific research group, and enthusiasm for teaching Molecular
Medicine. She/he should complement and expand the research portfolio of the Institute with
up-to-date topics in the field of basic research. Interdisciplinary collaborations, active participation
in research focus areas of the Faculty of Medicine, and participation in research alliances of
the University of Freiburg are expected.
Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree in Molecular Medicine,
Biochemistry, Biology, Medicine or related degrees, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent
publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and
teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
The position is tenured according to § 50 para 1 LHG.
