The Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin) is one of the world's leading art universities with a long tradition. It is an important partner in Berlin’s network of culture, art and science and artistic activities in Berlin. More than 200 professors, around 250 employees in art and sciences, and around 300 employees in administration, libraries, service and technology work at the UdK Berlin. More than 4,000 students (30 % of them international) are enrolled in over 70 degree programmes at the four colleges of Fine Arts/Architecture, Media and Design/Music, and Performing Arts, as well as at the Central Institute for Continued Education (ZIW), the Inter-University Centre for Dance (HZT) and the Jazz Institute Berlin (JIB). The UdK Berlin offers teacher education programmes in the subjects of Fine Arts, Music and Theatre/Performing Arts. With places for 1031 students, 36 professorships and one junior professorship, the Faculty of Fine Arts offers a diverse range of education in all artistic and academic fields of fine arts teaching, including teacher training for primary and integrated secondary level/grammar schools. They include painting, sculpture, fine arts, drawing, photography, media, performance, art history and aesthetics, aesthetic teaching practice/methodology of teaching fine arts, and also further education in the field of art and cultural work at the Institute for Art in Context.
